Fulfilling the Great Commission by raising Christ-centred disciples to plant vibrant, biblical churches in our cities and countries all over the world

On Sunday, 20 December 2020, Hope Church Brisbane opened its doors to regular members and new visitors alike for its 2020 Christmas Outreach Service. Proceedings began with praise and worship providing a spiritual twist on old Christmas favourites such as ‘Joy to the World’ and ‘O Come All Ye Faithful.’ A special Christmas segment followed, with song performances and a spoken word presentation outlining that while for many, Christmas 2020 feels different, uncertain and fragile, there is a hope beyond here and now – his name is Jesus.

This set the stage for Pastor Joshua to preach about having “Christmas with Hope”. His message reminded attendees that in uncertain times, hope in Jesus is a sure and steadfast anchor. While hope in Jesus does not mean the absence of stress or tough times, it is a reminder that Jesus came in love and grace to save every heart. It is what makes hope in Jesus so incredible. During the ministering time, everyone responded to the message, choosing to hold firm to the hope that only comes from Jesus.

The festivities continued after the end of the official program. There was a coffee van and gelato stand, free brownies and a Christmas performance for all to enjoy. While Christmas 2020 feels different compared to other years, our hope in Jesus is not, for He is the same, now and forever.
