Fulfilling the Great Commission by raising Christ-centred disciples to plant vibrant, biblical churches in our cities and countries all over the world

Hope Ipswich celebrated her 4th birthday of official Church services this spring on the 30th August. Once again, God draws us to His heartbeat that has the City of Ipswich as the apple of His eyes. It was His words in Isaiah 61 that first set the elements of the Ipswich church-plant into motion in 2008.

Hope Ipswich started regular church services on campus grounds at the University of Queensland (Ipswich) in 2010. Over the 4 years, it has flourished to be home to approximately 40 people. We have a young work force that meets and outreach weekly at the suburb of Bundamba. They have been faith-filled and bold, ramping up evangelism on the streets of Ipswich. Hope Ipswich is youthful; in addition to our young professionals group, we also have a large population of university students. Through its thriving student ministry, CCM (Campus Christian Movement Ipswich/ Gatton), we have seen numerous salvations, rededications and baptisms. Just the day after anniversary, there were 3 more baptisms at the local Aspire Apartments. This year, we continue expanding our presence into key hostel grounds holding weekly fellowship/ evangelistic groups, something no other local churches have established yet.

The theme this year was “Brighter”. This 4th birthday, we celebrate a radical, new and young generation being raised up in Hope Ipswich to be His light in a time of increasing post-modern darkness.
One of the things we did during the anniversary celebration was to revisit the prophecies over Hope Ipswich given to the co-ordinating leaders in 2012. As we listened to these words again, it spoke on so many levels and we are filled with faith and vision to what God has in store for His beloved Church.

Prophecy at Presbytery:

“…this is the house of preparation, that people are coming in they are being equipped so they can be sent out…

“…the raising up of others to be like arrows shot forth, to be ones that would go back to their nation, ones that would go to other nations…

“…a time where I want to raise up and cause many to be harvested into the kingdom of God and brought forth to shoot forth…

Hope Ipswich celebrates our unique calling in God. At the moment, we are excited about the caucus of pioneers in our current midst, training to answer the call of missions and church-planting to other nations. On our 4th birthday, Hope Ipswich celebrates the passion for the Great Commission that has been personally taken hold of and lived out though young lives right here, right now.
We look forward to greater things ahead in God for Ipswich!

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour. Isaiah 61 NIV
