Fulfilling the Great Commission by raising Christ-centred disciples to plant vibrant, biblical churches in our cities and countries all over the world

God is the hope of all hearts. Truly, in the 10 years since the St Lucia centre has been established, He has been so faithful. On the 8th of March 2014, Hope Brisbane’s St Lucia centre was blessed to mark its 10th anniversary and marvel at how far God has brought us. The celebration service was themed “Hope of All Hearts”.

Most of us in the St Lucia centre joined the church through campus evangelism in the various universities around Brisbane. As such, not many of us were around during the earlier days when the centre first started. But the photomontage that was screened before the service began gave us a brief look at the history of our beloved church and showed us its humble beginnings.

We were able to see how the St Lucia centre has grown and also be thankful for the different individuals who have helped build up the church. So many people have persevered through the tough and trying times to help bring the church to where it is today: an arm of blessing that brings God’s transforming love and power into the lives of people.

The service opened with a heart-pounding drum performance that really got crowd grooving in their seats and set up the atmosphere for a powerful time of praise and worship. We were all dancing on God’s great dance floor and there was such an air of thanksgiving in the auditorium.

We moved on to some ice-breakers and found out a little more about St Lucia centre through a little trivia game, with the hosts encouraging the crowd to be bold and speak up by giving out some pretty attractive prizes.

The highlight of the evening was Ps Joshua’s rousing sermon. He shared that God is the only hope we can hold on to in this world and even in our eternity, and that we have been blessed to receive this hope, we are then tasked to be ambassadors of this same hope.

As the service came to a close, many of us were encouraged and once again assured of God’s goodness to this church and family. So many ones have passed through our doors, so many seeds have been planted, and so many lives have been changed. As our hearts were once again filled with gratitude for all that God has done in and through the St Lucia centre in the past 10 years, we were also excited to see what He has in store for the next 10 years and beyond.
