HOPE BRISBANE MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

Mums, You’re A Star’ is the theme of this Mother’s Day Service for the Willawong Centre of Hope Church Brisbane.

Many families were gathered at the Willawong Centre early to enjoy the warm hospitality and tastefully-flavoured coffee at the Hope Café, the beautiful weather and cosy chats under the roof and the laughter of children running and playing wildly around the playground. At 10.00 am sharp, the mothers and their families were made welcome by an escorted red carpet entrance to the auditorium. Photographers were busy taking snapshots of the beautiful mothers which made them feel like a star. The service started high with praise and worship session that was enhanced not only by the participation of the children but also the lingering presence of God’s love that was tangibly felt by many.

A multimedia about ten things that the mothers should do sets the scene as it highlights some interesting and funny facts addressing especially to the mothers. The atmosphere was further enhanced when the Mother’s Day Special Performance was introduced. The senior children took turn to recite a line from a poem written by them, which is filled with words of appreciation and warmth to their mothers. It was a heart-warming moment as mothers listened to what the children had to say about them. When it comes to the fathers or husbands, they made sure their wives are being blessed to the max through an extremely outstanding and funny performance as they danced and lip-sang a famous song by Bruno Mars titled ‘Just The Way You Are’ with big notice signs that highlighted how amazing, beautiful and great their wives are. The performance hit a high when a father dressed in woman’s outfit came out of the stage doing all sort of hilarious actions imitating a mother. Everyone had tears of laughter in their eyes.

In a joyful spirit, the mothers were invited to stand as they were given colourful blossoming flower pots that symbolised the seeds of love that they have planted in the lives of their families. Smiles of pride were all over the mothers’ faces. A multimedia was played underlining the backgrounds, heartbeats and activities of the playgroup, mother’s group and fitness for mums group that are going on weekly in the Willawong Centre. The mothers were appreciated for taking up their time running such meaningful ministries on top of their busy role as working and serving mum. It leads to a very encouraging sermon from Pastor Lai Ling as she preaches on why a mother is a star.

After the service ended the members and visitors continued enjoying the day with an abundant catered lunch, served by a bunch of courteous youths from Ablaze. A pampering session of body massage and manicure was set up for the mothers to enjoy while being served a special high tea of beautifully decorated cupcake and delicious punch drinks. It was a great success seeing the attendance of many mothers and they truly enjoyed a Mother’s Day Service that was made especially for them.
